Clear, agreed fees
We are upfront about cost from the first call. Lasting powers of attorney are usually a clear fixed fee, and there is often a saving where we prepare more than one at the same time, for example a property and a health LPA, or a pair for a couple. The registration fee payable to the Office of the Public Guardian is separate and we will tell you what it is.

What is a lasting power of attorney?
It is a legal document that lets you appoint one or more people you trust to make decisions for you if you lose the ability to make them yourself. There are two types, one for property and finances, and one for health and welfare.
Do I need both types?
Many people choose to put both in place, so their attorneys can help with money and with care decisions. We will talk through your situation and help you decide what you actually need.
What happens if I do not have one and lose capacity?
Your family cannot simply take over. They would usually have to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed, which is slower and more expensive than an LPA. Putting one in place now avoids that.
Can I still make my own decisions once I have an LPA?
Yes. While you have capacity, you stay in complete control. A lasting power of attorney is only used if and when you are unable to make a particular decision yourself.
