What Happens When a Solicitor like PM Law Is Intervened Into?
When the Solicitors Regulation Authority intervenes into a law firm, like PM Law, it takes control of client files and client money to protect the public. Intervention agents secure documents and funds.
However, intervention agents do not complete ongoing legal work.
If your conveyancing transaction completed but the legal formalities that follow completion remain unfinished, you must appoint a new solicitor to carry out that work. This can feel unsettling, particularly if you believed everything had already been concluded.
What Is Post Completion Work?
Post completion work is the legal process that takes place after contracts have completed. It ensures that ownership is correctly recorded and lender interests are protected.
This usually includes:
Registration of your ownership at HM Land Registry
Submission of SDLT returns where required
Registration of a mortgage lender’s charge
Serving Notice of Transfer or Notice of Charge in leasehold matters
Dealing with managing agents or freeholders
Until these steps are completed, your legal title may not be fully updated.
